Suzanne Scheller, Counselor at Law, offers an array of legal services all with a goal of resolving conflict, particularly for those in later life. Providing compassionate advocacy is a goal of the law firm. Suzy Scheller combines her passion, interest, skills, and knowledge of elder law, elder abuse and neglect, mediation, teaching, vulnerable adults, estate planning, financial exploitation, and long term care to advocate for clients finding themselves facing everyday concerns related to aging, advanced planning, and care needs. At Scheller Legal Solutions LLC, Suzanne Scheller focuses her practice on the field of elder law, including elder abuse and neglect litigation, financial exploitation, elder mediation, estate planning, and other areas of elder law. Suzy often works as co- counsel with Kenneth L. LaBore in nursing home litigation claims. Her passion and compassion in injury and wrongful death litigation claims against nursing homes and assisted living facilities have achieved results for elders and their families and have held providers accountable to protect our vulnerable, elder population.

Suzanne Scheller is a graduate of Hamline University School of Law and is admitted to practice in Minnesota, the United States District Court for Minnesota, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She is also a Qualified Neutral under Minnesota Rule 114 in the areas of mediation and arbitration.

Highlights

Suzanne Scheller is active in the elder law community, including furthering the voice of elder and disabled clients not only through legal representation and consultation with families, but also other advocacy efforts such as policy initiatives, presentations, and legislative reform. As an educator and experienced public policy advocate, Suzy Scheller engages in a variety of training and advocacy roles, such as speaking at seminars, assisting with drafting legislation, and providing training for family members and providers in the area of elder care. She has authored numerous articles and has been the instructor for many continuing legal education courses.

 

Suzanne Scheller is a founder of Elder Voice Family Advocates, a founding Board member of the Minnesota Elder Justice Center, adjunct faculty member at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, an editor of the Elder Law Handbook produced by Minnesota CLE, former Chair of the Governing Council for the Elder Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, and frequent speaker on issues related to elder law and vulnerable adults. Suzy Scheller is the recipient of the 2018 Mary Alice Gooderl Award for her contribution to the field of Elder Law and has been named a Minnesota 2020 Super Lawyer for her work in Elder Law.

Suzy Scheller is a second-career lawyer, having gained invaluable life experience prior to becoming an attorney that enhance her services for working Minnesotans. She is an educator by training, which carries into her work with and on behalf of clients. Suzy and her husband Joe have been married for over 30 years and enjoy time with their four children. She was trained as a math teacher and previously worked in the areas of education, development, and information technologies prior to returning to law school. Suzy enjoys an active lifestyle swimming, biking, cross country skiing, and running (well jogging really). She remains active in her community, volunteering at school, church, and community functions. Her passion in life is to help others.
