92-Year-Old Woman Found Dead at Eagan Assisted Living Facility

By |  April 6, 2018

In this report produced by KSTP out of Minneapolis, a woman is horrified after the death of her 92-year-old mother at Commons on Marice. June Thompson had been placed in the facility because she had cancer. Her family paid a substantial amount of money every month to ensure that someone would be able to check on her health and well-being frequently.

However, an investigation performed by the Minnesota Department of Health found there were no calls to or from Thompson and the front desk for two days. The medical examiner concluded that Thompson had passed away from natural causes. The investigation concluded that the records stating there had been a daily check had been falsified and cited the facility for substantial maltreatment and neglect.

Our own Mark Kosieradzki, said the following about neglect in Minnesota nursing homes:

“We hold these assisted living [facilities] accountable every single day. But we have to turn down hundreds of calls a year just because the law in Minnesota doesn’t protect its citizens.”
