Wisconsin Woman Dies of Hypothermia After Leaving Elderly Care Home

Last January, a 76-year-old woman was found dead outside of an elderly care home. She was found lying on an ice-covered creek early in the morning was taken to a Barron, WI hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Barron Police Chief said that the woman was not wearing appropriate clothing for temperatures approaching twenty degrees below zero.

The Barron County Sheriff’s office received an emergency call around 4:45 am, indicating that the resident of the facility had left. Police determined she left through her living room window.
