The Gazette Xtra reports that a licensed physical therapist assistant, Matthew G. Hendrickson, has been charged with second-degree sexual assault of a female nursing home resident. The article reports that Hendrickson, 56, was a temporary employee of the Golden Years Retirement and Nursing Home in Walworth, WI and that he is accused of sexually assaulting the patient during her physical therapy session at the nursing home. Hendrickson has pleaded not-guilty to the criminal charge. Hendrickson is due to appear back in court on February 19th.
In a June 2011 inspection by the government, inspectors determined that the Golden Years Retirement and Nursing Home:
- Failed to 1) hire only people with no legal history of abusing, neglecting or mistreating residents; or 2) report and investigate any acts or reports of abuse, neglect or mistreatment of residents.
- Failed to develop policies that prevent mistreatment, neglect, or abuse of residents or theft of resident property.
- Failed to provide necessary care and services to maintain the highest well being of each resident.
- Failed to keep each resident’s personal and medical records private and confidential.
