Former Rhode Island Nursing Home Executive to Pay $1.2 Million Settlement

The Providence Journal reports that Antonio L. Giordano and his family will pay $1.2 million to the federal government after the former nursing home executive attempted to file for bankruptcy following a court-ordered payment of almost $14 million for embezzling two nursing homes.

A bankruptcy judge authorized the government to pursue claims brought by the IRS.

Giordano had previously filed a petition for bankruptcy, alleging that he was only living off Social Security benefits. The government argued that the petition was an attempt to circumvent the lawsuit related to the embezzlement lawsuit.

The $1.2 million agreement will settle all the claims brought by the federal government against two companies owned by Giordano’s children.
