The Minnesota Department of Health has completed its investigation of neglect at the New Brighton Care Center in New Brighton, Minnesota. A complaint was filed with the Department alleging that a resident of the New Brighton Care Center suffered traumatic injuries when the caregiver left the resident standing with her walker at the bedside. The Department investigated the matter and found that the resident had sustained a right femur fracture when the caregiver lefther standing alone at the bedside with a walker, despite that fact that the resident required contact guard assistance (staff were to remain close to the resident) when the resident was standing and holding the walker. The caregiver assigned to the resident was aware that the resident was a stand-by assist of one when the resident was using the walker and during cares, yet the caregiver left the resident.
