Good Samaritan Nursing Home Neglects Resident – Pressure Sore

The Minnesota Department of Health has determined that the Good Samaritan Society Bethany nursing home in Brainerd is responsible for neglect of a resident.  A complaint was filed with the Department alleging that a resident was provided inadequate nursing care when the nursing home staff failed to toilet and reposition her every two hours. The complaint further alleged that Good Samaritan’s staff was aware for more than a month that the resident had an untreated coccyx pressure sore. The Department investigated the matter and found that even though the facility had a policy and procedure in place, several staff failed to follow the policy to monitor in treat the wound over a two-week period in the facility failed to have a process to insure that its staff or following the policy.  [Report H5500031, dated June 28, 2012]
