The nursing home battle in the Bluegrass State got a little more interesting yesterday when nursing home advocates celebrated the release of a report that states Kentucky is “the worst state” for expenses per bed and for the amount of litigation against nursing homes.
Of course, there are two sides to every story. The Kentucky Justice Association found fault with the report, according to WKU Public Radio.
“It is a very biased report, they only looked at five states,” said KJA President Sheila Heistand, “It’s not a comprehensive report, and therefore I don’t think it holds a lot of credibility.”
The Justice Association believes the simple solution to the state’s nursing home problem is providing better care to residents. Nursing home advocates disagree, saying they are behind the federal eight-ball in terms of funding.
