Employee stole checks for drug use

By July 6, 2012 No Comments

Virginia Nursing Home employee Nicole E. LaFratta was charged with three counts of identity theft from an elderly person for financial gain, according to the Waukesha Patch.

LaFratte also faces one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and could spend up to 18 years in prison if found guilty of all counts.

Authorities were notified of LaFratta’s misdeeds when an 82-year-old woman living at Virginia Nursing Home noticed three checks were missing from her checkbook.

According to the article, police found LaFratta cashed one for $160 and the two others for $200.

LaFratta admitted that she stole the money to aid her heroin habit.

A nursing home employee is there to care for a resident, not to steal from him or her. Financial exploitation is illegal. If you have concerns about your own circumstances, contact the Kosieradzki Smith Law Firm online or call us toll free at (877) 552 2873 to set up a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION.
