Financial Exploitation

Nursing home employee steals credit card, uses it around town

By June 14, 2012 No Comments

Barbara Motter, a former employee at Willow Creek Nursing Home, was recently accused of identity theft after authorities discovered she stole a resident’s credit card and used it for multiple purposes.

The 24-year-old worker was jailed on a $10,000 bond after more than $1,000 was taken from the resident’s account. The official charges are four counts of identity theft, three counts of financial transaction card fraud and one count of financial card theft.

Motter allegedly used the money to pay her own bills and buy minutes on her cell phone, reports WITN.

A nursing home employee is there to care for a resident, not to steal from him or her. Financial exploitation is illegal.
