NeglectPhysical Abuse

Missouri nursing home residents abused, neglected

By June 14, 2012 No Comments

Just days after an 82-year-old woman was found with deep cuts and bruises on her arms at a St. Louis County nursing home, a 68-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital after she was discovered with a fractured elbow and a separated shoulder.

St. Louis’ KMOV 4 called the neglect wounds “horrible.” Gail Drmacich, a family member of the 68-year-old resident, agreed.

“This is more neglect, I would say more neglect,” she said, “She’s got bruises on her, could be from a fall I can’t tell you.”

The wounds were immediately apparent when Drmacich saw her.

“I told [a doctor] what was going on with her and she said she needs to be in the ER,” said Drmacich, “I immediately called the nursing home and said, ‘call an ambulance, she needs to go to Mercy, they want her in the ER.”
