Neglect

California nursing home accused of horrible neglect

By June 29, 2012 No Comments

San Pablo, California’s Creekside Health Care Center was recently sued for multiple instances of blatant neglect.

The lawsuit alleges that “Creekside residents are regularly left unattended for long periods, often in soiled garments, are overmedicated and develop preventable bed sores because of poor care,” according to Mercury News.

The home’s security is also in question, as a man was arrested two years ago for walking into the home and sexually assaulting four of the residents.

The lawsuit states, “During the assaults, residents screamed for help, sometimes for more than 30 minutes, but no one came.”

Pat McGinnis, the executive director of California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform, believes the lawsuit will help conditions in California nursing homes.

“Obtaining a court injunction against a bad nursing home can be the effective tool for improving the lives of residents,” said McGinnis, “The lawsuit against Creekside is focused on ensuring that all of its current and future residents receive the decent treatment they need and deserve.”
