Nursing home abuse caught on tape

By May 24, 2012Physical Abuse

According to a recent story from NJ.com, a paralyzed woman was beaten in her bed by numerous workers at a nursing home in New Jersey, and it was all caught on tape.

After finding suspicious bruises on the arms of their mother, the family of the late Modesta Alvarado placed a hidden camera in her room. They later discovered shocking footage of nursing home aides contributing to the abuse.

According to Alvarado’s grandson, one of the workers on the video told Alvarado, “Lady, why don’t you die.” Unfortunately, Alvarado passed away at the same nursing home this past January.

Only one employee from the home has been charged. Julia Galvan faces charges of assault, abandonment and neglect of the elderly. The Alvarado family recently filed a lawsuit against the home.
