An aide at a Texas nursing home bit an elderly resident suffering from Alzheimer’s on the head after the resident bit the aide’s arm.
The strange occurrence took place when the aide was helping the resident onto the toilet. The resident bit down on the aide’s arm, refusing to let go. A witness said the aide was in pain and could not move away because she was ‘tied up.’
The aide then bit down on the resident’s forehead, leaving a bite mark with two open skin wounds.
The aide contends that she did not, in fact, bite the woman, and fainted soon after she received the bite to the arm. The Administrative Law Judge recommended that the aide’s name be listed in the state’s Nurse Aide Registry in relation to the finding of abuse, according to the Star-Telegram.
Biting is never an acceptable reaction for a care worker at a nursing home. Take action if a loved one has been abused at a care facility. For a free initial consultation, contact the Kosieradzki Smith Law Firm online or toll free at (877) 552-2873 today.
