KCRG reports nursing home workers left an injured resident unattended on the floor for 48 minutes without assistance.
The state recently fined All American Restorative Care in Washington, Iowa, $15,000 for this “inexcusable” event. A videotape at the facility captured workers walking by the resident, a female who had suffered a severe laceration on her head and lay motionless on the floor.
The workers in question were enjoying a Christmas party nearby, and did not stop their gathering to help out the resident, who was in plain sight.
The home has recently been fined for two other incidents, one on Jan. 10 when a resident was dropped from a mechanical lift, and one on Jan. 20 when an unattended resident fell from a toilet and suffered a serious head injury.
