The FBI released a statement last week saying Georgia nursing home owner George Dayln Houser has been convicted of defrauding Medicaid and Medicare, while running multiple disgusting nursing facilities.
The report states there was “not enough food, little air conditioning or heat, roofs leaking to the point that barrels and plastic sheets were used to catch rain water, trash piled up in dumpsters, flies and rodents everywhere, along with rampart mold and mildew” at three Georgia nursing homes under Houser’s ownership.
There were also multiple other deficiencies, including inadequate staffing and the failure to pay vendors for various pharmaceutical and clinical laboratory services. Complaints from residents, family members, staffers and vendors prompted a full investigation into Houser’s homes.
As part of his Medicare and Medicaid agreements, Houser was under contract to “provide his residents with a safe and clean physical environment, nutritional meals, medical care, and other assistance,” but he clearly failed to do so.
