The Star Tribune reports that Red Wing Health Center faces new charges related to a resident’s pneumonia death in September.
A new report from the Minnesota Department of Health states, “the policies and procedures did not provide an effective system” at the RWHC. The resident in question did not receive one of her drugs for three days, and another prescription altogether after the nursing staff made clerical errors.
Soon after the medication errors, the resident was “found to be pulseless” and died the same day. According to the Star Tribune, “the home has since retrained staff on medical transcription procedures and taken other actions.”
