Meth Lab Causes Fire At Troubled Care Facility

By March 27, 2012 No Comments

One man is dead after a fire at Park Haven nursing home in Cleveland, Ohio.

A meth lab was secretly constructed in a resident’s room, and the flammable setup started a fire on Sunday night, leading the hospitalization of five people, and the death of a 31-year-old man who was visiting at the time.

This is not the first time the home has been in the news; Last year, it was cited for 18 violations by the Ohio Department of Health.

A December survey revealed deficiencies at New Haven and featured violations “including not providing adequate care, failing to investigate how a resident was injured and not properly responding to residents’ complaints about missing property.”

The fire is currently under official investigation.
