NeglectPhysical Abuse

Improperly Trained Staff Leads To Serious Resident Injury

A nursing home in Little Falls has been cited for neglect by the Minnesota Department of Health after a state investigator made a surprise visit to the facility.

One resident experienced three falls while in the home’s care, falling twice out of her wheelchair and another out of a mechanical lift. The worker who was controlling the lift had no previous training with the equipment, resulting in the fall.

There were also two other allegations of abuse, one that included forced consumption of medication before meals, and another that included residents’ pants being pulled down to their knees while they napped to prevent the clothes from getting wet. These allegations have not been substantiated yet.

A nursing home is supposed to take care of your loved one, and it is the responsibility of the facility to make sure their workers understand how to use potentially dangerous equipment.
