Winona Nursing Home Cited for Forced Care

The Star Tribune reports that the Lake Winona Manor nursing home of Winona, Minnesota has been cited by the state for forcing care upon a resident who didn’t want it.  A nurse mistakenly believed that the resident had not had a bowel movement for three days and ordered a suppository.  The resident resisted and said that he had had a bowel movement the day before, but several nurses pinned him against the wall and forced the suppository upon him. The resident was described as “cognitively intact and able to communicate without difficulty.”
