The Star Tribune reports that the Lakeshore Inc. nursing home of Duluth, Minnesota has been issued a citation for the death of a resident. The resident was admitted to the nursing home and was prescribed the blood-thinning drug, Coumadin, after having several small strokes a few years before. The resident’s doctor had ordered that the drug be re-ordered following a blood test, but reportedly, no blood test was administered. The nursing home then discontinued the medicine, and 18 days later, the resident suffered a fatal stroke.
