First Coast News reported on July 16, 2010 that the state of Florida is shutting down the Glenwood Nursing Center. The state investigation reported instances of dangerous falls, unsupervised residents abusing one another, even a resident who wandered away unnoticed and made it into the next county before being found. The nursing home reportedly knew about these problems but repeatedly failed to intervene or develop plans of correction. In addition to being shut down, the nursing home company faces a $25,000 fine.
